Since doing my preliminary task I have seen there has been a drastic change in the quality of both magazines that I made. This is due to at the beginning of this preliminary task I never had a good knowledge on what it takes to make a good magazine and also not a full understanding of the conventions. Looking at the front page I can see that the second image is stretched and takes up too much space of the main image.
The main tool that helped me with the transformation from my college magazine to music magazine was the improvements of my Photoshop skills. With these new skills I was able to manipulate the software better and being able to come up with unique ideas and effects. This helped the final outcome look more professional and so it shows that I have made big improvements through my better Photoshop and convention knowledge.
This was my original first design of my front page but after thought and feedback from my teachers I realised that the images I took of the model were unable to work on my double page spread, so due to this I had to change all the pictures that I had taken and replace them with better pictures, as well as, having to change the whole colour scheme. Looking back I would say that I made the right decision and now I think my magazine looks better and this was the feedback I gained from other students and my teachers.
Also I struggled to allow the text on my front page to appeal to consumers, also not to make it look like it's all clumped together. So I had to find a new creative way of laying out my text on the front page, I also found it useful to look at existing established magazines for ideas. This lead to my final outcome of my front page and by comparing both together, you can see that the second one has had more effort put into it and is much more appealing. Also it helped that I learnt more about using the Cannon e05 400D due to I was able to capture better pictures and using the tools on the camera to make alterations to allow my image to come out to a high standard.
