By using my profiling audience I was able to identify ways of attracting my audience by finding out what appeals to them and what they would expect to see in my music magazine. It was particularly important to make sure that my front page of my music magazine, attracted my target audience due to it being the first thing they would see, also it would have to create an impact and appeal to customers to buy my magazine. The first step was to make the model on the front page of my magazine around the same age as my target audience, so they could associate and relate themselves with him and another benefit is that my model was fairly attractive and would help gain my audience’s attention. Secondly the model was also wearing clothes that represented a particular style associated with hip hop and rap but, was done in a subtle way that would not make the magazine seem too ‘hood’. This particular style is also represented in my model’s facial expressions, due to he is looking directly into the camera which supports rap culture of being ‘tough’ and not showing too much emotion, that you may see on a pop or rock magazine. The props used on the model also helps attract the audience due to he is wearing a long chain with a pendant. Artists in rap have a culture of having long chains that is meant to improve their look. With this information I included the prop to help state the genre of my music magazine which is unlikely to be seen in an indie magazine.
Another way I attracted my target audience was through he use of colours on my magazine due to this was stated in my audience profile. There was a division in the choice to use light or dark colours throughout my magazine so I decided to use both so that it would appeal to the majority. I also found it hard to make my magazine appeal to females so I decided to ask them what gender of male would they like to see on the front cover of my magazine and the majority answered a male, so this was my way of attracting the female target audience.
Throughout my magazine I used different san serif fonts that gave it a modern look that is similar to the fonts used in vibe magazine, but I made my title in a serif font to try to give it an old fashioned western font that was appreciated by my peers, this helped my magazine stand out better than others. I also kept this serif style in my content page on the main title and category titles. I also got feedback from my peers and teachers and they were drawn to the font I used on my content page that I downloaded from datpiff.com which looks like the coca cola text.
On my content page I attracted my target audience by having a clear layout that was in a ‘L’ shape with all categories having a title and separate, that allowed it to be easier to read and you would be able to spot out, a certain topics with ease without having to read the whole page, also my colour scheme helped make it easier to read and separate regular categories from text boxes. This allowed my magazine to have an overall more professional look.
